Facts: The Grand Canyon is 277 river miles long beginning at
Lee's ferry just below page AZ and ending just east of Lake Mead
Nevada. It travels through three Native American Indian reservations,
the Navajo, Havasupai, and Hualapai. The deepest and widest part is at
the south rim where it is 18 miles across and 1 mile deep.
Recreation: There is an abundance of
outdoor recreational activities within the Grand Canyon area. Within
the Grand Canyon National Park there are plenty of hiking trails
leading to the bottom, and of course the world famous mules.
Reservations for the mules need to be made far in advance and many
restrictions apply. There is camping in camp grounds within the park,
and permits are required for any back country camping. There are river
rafting trips available from 3 to 14 days long and do need advance
reservations.
Most of the commercial outfitters and tour operators are located in
Tusayan on Hwy 64 one mile south of the park entrance.

ATV tours,
Helicopter tours, Airplane tours,
Horseback rides, River Rafting tours, Van tours, Sunset tours, and
Hiking tours can all be found in Tusayan. While in Tusayan the Imax
movie featuring Grand Canyon Hidden Secrets is a must see, with movie
times hourly.
Wildlife: Northern
Arizona and the region surrounding the Grand Canyon is full of wildlife.
During your ATV or Jeep tour you will have the opportunity to experience
all sort of animals in their natural habitats including elk, deer, wild
turkey, pronghorn antelope, mountain lions, javelinas, coyotes, and more.

Lodging: Recommended lodging in Tusayan
is as follows: The Best Western Squire Inn, The Grand Hotel, The
Holiday Inn Express, The Red Feather Lodge, The 7 Mile Lodge, The
Quality Inn and Suites, and during the summer months only, Camper
Village for the R.V.-ers. The Grand Canyon Inn is located 20 miles
south of Tusayan in Valle.
Seasons: Elevation on the south rim is
7000 feet. Cool temperatures can be expected all year after sunset.
Snowfall should be expected between November and March. Monsoon rains
should be expected between July and mid September. Summers are mild
with high temps rarely exceeding 90 degrees. Spring and Fall usually
bring pleasant warm days with cooler air.
Grand Canyon Entrance Fees: Entrance fees
into Grand Canyon are currently $25.00 per car and is good for
7 days allowing you to leave and return Entrance tickets can be bought
at the Imax Movie in Tusayan, or at the south and east entrance
